No more CPC....

Today we had our long awaited ultrasound to check on the previously diagnosed choroid plexus cyst. If you recall, after our 19 week ultrasound, Dr Kodner sent us to the hospital for a level II ultrasound which confirmed a 4mm choroid plexus cyst on the right ventricle of the baby's brain. We waited 4 weeks for the follow up and I am happy to say that the cyst is no more. After everyone's prayers and hope that this would resolve itself, God gave us comfort and the cyst is gone.

I was able to get a clear transverse section of his brain, amongst other pictures. The baby has doubled in size since our last appointment, measuring at 1lb 7oz, finally catching up and putting the weight comfortably over 50%. Lets hope the fattening does not stop, I can't be the only one gaining weight. He is still no doubt small like big brother which is just perfect for the VBAC.

The only other complication right now is the low lying placenta. It has not been officially diagnosed as placenta previa so we will keep praying that the placenta moves up on its own. I also find it interesting that the technician in the ultrasound follow up mentioned that there was fluid in the kidneys in the previous ultrasound and that has cleared up as well. This is apparently very common too with baby boys as their urinary tracts develop differently. All in all, I am really glad that this ultrasound went well, no more scheduled hospital visits until 2013 :-)

23 weeks.



One more week to viability. It looks like this time around I am paranoid about having a pre-term delivery. I remember being so disappointed that I.Jr was only 6lbs 2oz, I was so convinced that I was going to have a big baby, 8-9lbs but that weight gained was so deceiving. Dr Kodner told me that his placenta was just small and that was why he was small. So now I can imagine that my uterus grew this giant size placenta especially after being told that the baby measured at 9oz at the 20 week ultrasound which makes him really small too. So I can't afford to have the baby pre-term. Smaller babies have a higher risk of complications. Anything after 38.5 weeks will be great.

My belly is getting bigger and bigger and I love IT. Its really a shame that the placenta is at the front of my belly because his kicks are getting stronger but they are not strong enough for Daddy and big bro to feel them.

20 weeks... halfway through!

This week i am getting back to normal after the CPC debacle. 2 things happened to me that made me come back to normal especially realizing that nomatter what test they do, there is always a possibility that something may be wrong with the baby like Down Syndrome and such.

First I went to church on Saturday and the sermon made me realize that the fear I have been experiencing is because I have been looking at my own plan, not God's. It is imperative that I let God's will be done. He alone is the architect of ouer lives and that credit can be given to him and only him. Second was my mother, when I told her about the CPC she laughed so hard about how women have been having babies since the beginning of time without ultrasounds and genetic testing. She told me to stop being paranoid and enjoy my pregnancy...

Every mother's nightmare...

On Friday after the anatomy ultrasound I got home and took a nap. I woke up with a missed call from the doctor's office and I thought it was because I had forgotten to leave a urine sample. I waited impatiently until Monday to make the call.

I finally spoke to the nurse who told me that they didnt get good pictures of the brain and wanted me to go to the hospital for a better look. I was so surprised by this news because i knew the technician took lots of pictures of the brain. I posted this on Babycenter and one of the ladies that responded advised me to call and ask for more details. I called the doctor's office back and they told me they think there was a Choroid Plexus cyst and wanted me to go to the hospital for the level II ultrasound on Friday. I asked what that meant and the nurse told me it could  be nothing or it could be an indicator of a more serious problem like Trisonomy 13 or 18.
